What is this?
In true tradition, I must write a blog post to “launch” the newly re-edited version of my site. I’ve probably gone through at least 12 versions of this site over the years, all the way from when I was 10 years old and my dad gifted me melissaclissold.com. Back then I was supposedly into dark humour and Irish culture. Very sweet of my dad to have thought about such a gift. It made me start to think - from back then - till now:
“What do I want on this site? What is this?”
It’s a channel. A medium to express, to share, to be.
As a millenial, who witnessed “The Golden Age of The Internet”, I have a nostalgia for shared spaces online that were interesting. Forums with endless discussions, P2P music sharing, msn messenger, winamp—those were the days I was brought up in, and so, my site evolved as I did.
So, what is this (place/space) today?
It’s a few things:
A portfolio of my work from over the years - both creative and professional work.
A place to connect with others who want to collaborate.
A place where I can build my website easier (Weebly, you killed a little part of me).
Finally, somewhere where I can express in a new, refreshed manner. Sometimes (no pressure).
So, if you are here, welcome. In this site, you’ll find a bit of everything: music, art and photography, voice-acting, a bit of game design in the Portfolio section, and some writing under the Blog section.
Take a look around.
